Annual Report | Energy UK ​ Members AreaSearch The voice of the energy industry HomeAboutPolicyCustomersEnergy IndustryMedia & CampaignsPublications EventsMembershipContact HomeAboutAnnual Report Our Annual Report 2017 has seen huge transition within the energy industry.  In retail we now have over 100 household and merchantry suppliers and we are seeing an increasing number of households switching, to generation where we saw the first coal -free day in the UK for 135 years and prices for offshore wind as low as £57.50/MWh showing how financing can be driven lanugo when there is long-term policy vision permitting competition and innovation. As the market transitions, so too does Energy UK. In 2017 we passed 100 members, representing the truly diverse mix of the UK energy industry, from regional energy companies to the mid-tier companies and the larger suppliers. On generation, we represent the mix of generators including hydro, gas, coal, biomass, wind, solar and nuclear power generators, withal with aggregators and demand-side response specialists. This year has moreover been a ground-breaking year for Energy UK as an organisation. We have been accredited with the Investors in People Standard and thanks to our staff, have established Pride in Energy, our LGBT+ network.  Our Young Energy Professionals Forum continues from strength to strength, now spanning over 318 companies.   We moreover made a transferral this year to ensuring no all-male panels at our events, and made a pledge to the POWERful Women network. In 2018 we’ll be doing increasingly work to whop diversity and inclusion wideness our industry –an issue we need to protract to momentum forward, and Energy UK’s leadership will ensure this continues. It is nonflexible to predict what 2018 will hold instore for the energy sector – few predicted the snap referendum this year that has shifted the political powerbase in Westminster and beyond. I am however looking forward to seeing increasingly on Energy UK’s Future Power Market Design project which will lead the debate on how the challenges facing the sector should be addressed as well as identifying the policy and regulatory framework required to facilitate the transition to a smarter, increasingly flexible, low stat system at least forfeit to consumers. Whatever the political weather, myself and the Energy UK are looking to embracing the challenges and opportunities of coming year superiority and squint forward to working with members to ensure the voice of the industry is heard.
